Military Appreciation Week Wednesday, January 11-18

The inaugural Crested Butte Songwriters Festival, Jan. 12 - 16, will feature performances by several of the best performing songwriters from the world of country music. The festival will revolve around two nights of performances staged at Crested Butte hot spots, where live music bliss will introduce crowds to the faces, voices and stories behind hit songs. Signature in-the-round acoustic performances and rowdy, dance-inducing sets will dominate the schedule, and a benefit concert will be held on Jan. 14.

Al Johnson Memorial Uphill/Downhill Telemark Ski Race Sunday, March 25,This is a non-profit event with all proceeds going to local charities. All prizes are donations from local and national sponsors.The Al Johnson Telemark Race was first held in 1974. In recent years, local retailers have joined efforts to keep this historic race alive. The event grows in participant and spectator support every year. Last year, the race had record participation with well over 200 racers ranging in age from 10 to 62 braving the steep and rugged ski terrain.

TERRAIN PARK
CBMR's terrain park program is designed to offer a clear progression to guests. Whether mastering jumps, rails or the halfpipe, riders will find a series of features that matches their ability level, allowing them to move from beginner to more advanced lines within each park, and then to more advanced parks as skills improve. Advanced Park: The Gold Link Terrain Park, (1,800 feet long) located under the Gold Link lift on the Cascade trail, includes medium and large jump features, a full spread of rail features and the SuperPipe. Jib Park: The Keystone Rail Park is the resort's first park to open for the season, offering a variety of rail features from a beginner to intermediate level. The focus is on providing fun, creative features that less experienced and expert riders alike are sure to enjoy. The Keystone Jib Park evolves throughout the season with new features, jibs and rails coming online weekly. Beginner Park: This popular park is located off the Painter Boy lift and is open to skiers, snowboarders and snowskates. The park offers a full progression of features from rolling terrain to beginner hits and rails. It is open to all ages and is popular with kids. Special feature for parents: enjoy a cup of joe at the Camp 4 Coffee location at the top of the park while watching the kids rip it up. Snowboard/Skiercross Track: Located on Canaan off the Paradise quad, descending under the lift, this track is designed for multi-user fun. It is open throughout the bulk of the season in preparation for the USASA Southwest Colorado Series races.

GREAT DEAL
Ski FREE Opening Day - November 23, 2011 Crested Butte Mountain Resort officially opened for skiing in November of 1961, and this year's opening day marks the resort's 50th birthday and the culmination of a year-long celebration. To honor its golden year, CBMR is offering a free lift ticket valid on November 23, 2011, opening day for the 2011-2012 season. To sweeten the deal, the resort also is offering a free lift ticket for "your" birthday whenever it may fall during the winter season. CBMR's opening day birthday celebration includes live music with Drew Emmitt, fun events, a big birthday cake, and party favors. And, free skiing, of course; parties are tradition in "Colorado's Last Great Ski Town." Restrictions Free lift ticket for opening day is only valid on November 23, 2011. CBMR's "Ski Free on Your Birthday" offer is valid throughout the 2011-2012 winter season. Skiers and riders must show a valid photo ID at the CBMR Adventure Center on the day they were born to receive a free day of skiing for that day. Participants must be 18 years of age or older with a valid photo ID to prove their official date of birth.

MOUNTAIN DINING
The newly remodeled Uley's Cabin at the Ice Bar is the "hottest" spot on the mountain for lunch and evening sleighride dinners. Paradise Warming House features a cafeteria on the mountain, while Jefe's offers made-to-order tacos, burritos and beverages in the base area. For après ski, the 9380 deck is the place to be with a lively outdoor bar and fire pit.

Adults and kids can improve their on-mountain skills no matter your age, ability or whether you ski or snowboard. Group and private lessons are available. Kid's Night Out Kids have nothing to do? Parents need a night out? Bring your child to Camp CB to join our fun-loving instructors for an exciting Kids' Night Out. Kids who take part in kids night out will have entrance to the adventure park and all the activities it has to offer, which includes, tubing, ice skating and bungee jumping. Ages 4-12 Welcome. ATTRACTIONS

CBMR's base area Adventure Park comes complete with ice-skating, bungee trampolines, a climbing wall and lift served tubing in the winter; the bungee trampolines and climbing wall plus a mini golf course in the summer. The bungee trampolines provide a turbo-charged, gravity-defying ride up to 30 feet in the air, while the Climbing Pinnacle features a 28-foot, 6-route tower with auto-belay.
